TheTechDad1027 Authenticator v2.21
=================================

PORTABLE LINUX MINT PACKAGE
---------------------------
This application is distributed as a portable ZIP. The extracted folder is the application; there is no traditional installer and no sudo requirement.

SETUP
-----
1. Extract the entire TheTechDad1027-Authenticator folder to the location where you want it to permanently live.
2. Open a terminal in that folder.
3. Run:

   pwsh -NoProfile -File ./Setup.ps1

Setup.ps1 detects its own current folder and regenerates Authenticator.desktop with the exact extracted application path. It then creates:

   ~/.local/share/applications/Authenticator.desktop

as a symbolic link to the Authenticator.desktop file that remains inside this application folder.

Setup also asks whether to create a Desktop shortcut. If selected, that shortcut is another symbolic link to the same in-folder launcher.

After Setup, launch "TheTechDad1027 Authenticator" from the Linux Mint application menu.

Do not move the application folder after Setup. If you intentionally move it, run Setup.ps1 again from the new location so the launcher is rebuilt for the new path.

REMOVAL
-------
There is no traditional uninstall script. Delete the application folder when you no longer want the application. Linux Mint may temporarily show a stale/broken launcher link until Cinnamon refreshes.

SELF-CONTAINED STORAGE
----------------------
Persistent and runtime files are kept under this application folder whenever practical:

App/ application UI and local QR decoder
Data/ encrypted vault (created at runtime)
Backups/ encrypted-vault backups (created at runtime)
Logs/ application logs (created at runtime)
Settings/ application settings (created at runtime)
Temp/ temporary QR capture files (created at runtime)
BrowserProfile/ dedicated app-mode browser profile (created at runtime)

The only expected external files created by Setup are the launcher symbolic links required by Linux Mint.

APP ICON
--------
Authenticator.png is the approved dedicated application icon. The Linux launcher points directly to this file inside the portable application folder.
